Good evening, Europe!
Last update: October 3, 2021
It’s the iconic line we hear at the Eurovision Song Contest every year. By now, you’ve probably assumed that goodeveningeurope.blog is all about that annual show we love.
Right now, we are a team of two:
Kalvin Lindfors (he/him)
Hi there, call me Kalvin! I plan and write most of the content on the site. I also run the Twitter account @goodevening_eu, give us a follow if you’d like!
My Eurovision journey began in mid-2009, when I discovered an old Eurovision song and slowly worked my way to the present day. My first Eurovision experience was the 2010 final, and by the time Vienna hosted in 2015, I had caught up with all 60 years of the contest, just in time for the 60th anniversary.
Having accumulated all this knowledge over the years, I began to feel like we don’t give the ‘vintage’ or ‘retro’ years enough love. So I thought it would be nice to have a permanent place on the internet to give space to the moments of Eurovision past, where I could gather my thoughts and share what I’ve learned.
My favourite Eurovision editions are 1976 and 1985. In more recent years, I’m particularly fond of 2012, 2014, and 2016. Genre-wise, I’m an enjoyer of folk entries and the occasional pop banger. Outside of ESC, my interests include social issues and graphic design.
Era Economopoulou (she/her)
Hey, I’m Era! For the most part, I do editing for the blog, but write the occasional article here and there.
I’ve been a Eurofan since 2005, when I experienced the euphoria of Greece winning for the first time. More recently, I’ve gotten into vintage years of the Contest and have had a lot of epiphanies about my winners of the early years, including becoming a ‘De vogels van Holland’ fan.
My favourite edition of Eurovision remains 2008, although 1998 is a close second. I’m always up for a good Balkan ballad and, when not discussing Eurovision, can be found studying law and consuming various forms of Dutch media.
The two of us run this site in our free time. This blog may be relatively young, but I think we have a lot coming ahead. If you’d like to reach out to us, feel free to send a message on Twitter.
Thank you for stopping by, we hope you enjoy your time here!
With love,
Kalvin & Era
